Glass Fusing/Slumping/Casting



Introduction to Glass Fusing

For beginners who are interested in the art of kiln formed glass.  In this class you will learn all the skills necessary to get you started including

Glass cutting, Safety, Tools and Equipment, Flat/Layered Fusing, Firing and Finishing 
You will make pendants, coasters and a picture frame to show off to all your friends!
This class is a prerequisite for all the advanced and specialized classes we offer.

Class size is limited to 6

Kiln Forming -  Intro to Slumping, Draping and Kiln Carving

Prerequisite: Introduction to Glass Fusing or previous fusing experience

In this class, we will explore shaping glass in the kiln.  You will take the next step from flat fusing glass to forming the glass into a handkerchief candle holder, a bowl and a wall pocket vase.  We will also learn how to control the glass using a drop ring.

Class size is limited to 6 persons

All materials and kiln time provided

Fused Glass Mosaics

Prerequisite  Introduction to Glass Fusing or previous fusing experience

This is a fun class!   We will incorporate stained glass patterns into fused glass pieces!   We will make two projects using two different mosaic techniques.    In the first class we will create a traditional mosaic candle shield using bright transparent glass with black glass 'grout'.    The next project will be a large, self standing tack fused mosaic art piece.

ART GLASS JEWELRY

While we will always be drawn to the sparkle of dichroic glass-that's not all we can explore in art glass jewelry.   We will be using dichro, decals, enamels, inclusions, 24K gold and platinum, mica, basic wire wrapping, creating your own designs by etching, using frit casting molds, making glass bails, drilling holes, mini pot melts and more!

You will need basic glass cutting and grinding skills prior to taking this class- private instruction can be arranged by request -  Previous glass fusing knowledge is recommended

You will go home with many finished projects, supplies and TONS of knowledge.

THE WONDERS OF FUSING WITH FRIT

Prerequisite: Introduction to Glass Fusing

In this advance class - you will explore some of what working with frit has to offer.

We will make frit paintings, powder wafers and even put some frit in the freezer!   Besides some great projects - you will also be taking home your own small frit crusher that we will make in class
